McDonald’s self-service kiosks

UCL has implemented and services McDonald's self-service kiosks across Ukraine, taking into account fiscal requirements and the specifics of the chain to improve guest experience and optimize processes.

Project history

The first self-service terminals appeared in Ukrainian McDonald’s in 2015. The kiosk design was the same for all McDonald’s locations, and it was developed by the international company Wincor Nixdorf.

However, the terminals installed in Ukrainian McDonald’s restaurants had to comply with the fiscal legislation of Ukraine.

For this, a Datecs fiscal registrar was integrated into the self-service kiosk design, and a customer display was embedded.

The installation and service maintenance of the kiosks in Ukraine are carried out by UCL, the leading systems integrator in Ukraine in the field of retail automation.

Implementation

Order pickup takes place in a specially equipped pickup area

Project solution

McDonald’s visitors gained the ability to select and purchase products without the involvement of a cashier.

Now, using specialized self-service terminals, customers can independently select and pay for their purchases with a bank card.

The terminal offers interactive access to the menu, the choice of order type (takeaway or dine-in), and the type of payment (in addition to cashless payment through the terminal itself, orders can also be paid in cash upon pickup), and it sends the order information to McDonald’s staff, who immediately start preparing it.
